The Binary and Beyond: Imagining the Body in American Women’s Writing
The human body has been imagined and articulated in literature in dualistic terms of nature and culture, immanence and transcendence, ability and disability, the sacred and profane. This panel seeks to explore the diverse ways in which American women writers have figured the human body – either relying on or deconstructing various binary notions of the body. Proposals are welcome across genres and periods.
Please send proposals to mary.wearn@mga.edu by January 25, 2021.
