The editors of A Cultural History of Trans Lives in the Nineteenth Century (1800-1900) invite proposals for chapter contributions that approach the history of trans experience in the nineteenth century.
Submissions which attend to decolonization, imperialism, the Global South, transnational comparison, and/or geopolitical influences are especially welcome. We also seek submissions engaging models of the body and systems of power related to the body, including relationships among trans, intersex, disability, eugenics, militarism, and/or racialization. Submissions should substantially address the history and context of the long nineteenth century.
Expressions of Interest due October 1.
In submitting an expression of interest, feel free to name up to three possible chapters to which your submission speaks. Upon acceptance, the editors may request revision of your proposal in response to its assigned chapter theme.
At his link, you can find submission instructions and an outline of the areas of desired emphasis for each chapter of the nineteenth century volume. However, please feel welcome to submit a proposal on any topic addressing trans life in the nineteenth century. Full chapter summaries are available here.
