The Edith Wharton Review seeks a new editor. The journal is a peer-reviewed, MLA-indexed publication of the Edith Wharton Society, published twice yearly by Pennsylvania State University Press. It features scholarship on Edith Wharton, her literary contexts, and her ongoing influence, along with pedagogical essays and book reviews.
The editor collaborates with associate editors and the book review editor to shape the journal’s vision and oversee each issue. The role also involves working with Penn State UP, the advisory board, and the Edith Wharton Society Board (including virtual meetings), managing submissions and peer review, guiding issues through production, promoting the journal, and soliciting strong submissions from scholars at all career stages.
Experience teaching or publishing on Wharton and prior editorial or peer-review work are assets. The editor takes on this position as part of their academic work and no remuneration is provided by the journal.
Ideally, the incoming editor will begin working with the current editor in July 2026 (Spring 2027 issue) and assume full responsibility by June 2027 (Fall 2027 issue), though timing is negotiable.
To apply, please send a CV and brief statement of interest to Rita Bode (rbode@trentu.ca) and Jay Jessee (mjjessee@uab.edu) by Monday, April 6, 2026. Questions may be directed to Rita Bode.
