Are you attending the joint INCS-INCSA-NCSA conference on “Revolution, Revelation, and Reconciliation” July 21-24? If so, I’d like to highlight one of the online sessions, which you can join whether you have registered for in-person or online conference attendance (the latter being especially cost-efficient at $50 for a day). With colleagues from “The Genius of Phillis Wheatley Peters” initiative, Barbara McCaskill, Mona Narain, and Sarah Ruffing Robins be presenting in session IP-4G, entitled “Reclaiming Phillis Wheatley Peters through the Participatory Public Humanities.” It’s scheduled for 9:00-10:30 AM EST/8:00-9:30 CT on Wednesday, July 22.
We’ll briefly revisit the overarching goals and activities of our public humanities project on PWP. We’ll then move to illustrating how that programming, rather than taking us away from more “traditional” scholarship, has fed into research and writing about PWP’s biography, poetry, and cultural impact, culminating in our own and other chapters for an essay collection forthcoming in October from Edinburgh U Press, The Lives, Writings and Legacies of Phillis Wheatley Peters.
Whether you’re interested in Wheatley studies, envisioning and carrying out public humanities endeavors, or making such work supportive of your own published academic writing (and vice versa), we aim to make our session of transportable interest to you!
